Pendants that put the pattern on the ceiling.

A pierced brass pendant does something a shade cannot: it throws the piercing outward, so the ceiling and the upper walls carry the work. Hung over a table it pools light downward and casts a halo above.
Height matters more than diameter here. Over a dining table, hang the base roughly 75 to 85 cm above the surface. In a stairwell or a double-height room, size up rather than down, because a small pendant in a big volume disappears.
